Publications and Policies


USADA makes available a number of publications, policies and procedures to help elite athletes understand their anti-doping responsibilities including information on USADA's testing program; the WADA Code, Prohibited List, and International Standards; medical advice and therapeutic use exemption (TUE) information; whereabouts responsibilities; and sample collection process information. Furthermore, USADA makes available information and resources for athletes, parents, coaches, teachers, community program leaders and other USADA stakeholders. These resources include: optimal dietary guidelines; middle-school- and high-school- level educational curriculum and activities; and literature on the importance of competing with integrity, honesty and sportsmanship.

United States Olympic Committee Anti-Doping Policies

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code: The Code is the core document that provides the framework for harmonized anti-doping policies, rules and regulations within sport organizations and among public authorities. It works in conjunction with five International Standards aimed at bringing harmonization among anti-doping organizations.
WADA International Standard for Testing (IST): A comprehensive standard to plan for effective testing and to maintain the integrity and identity of samples, from notifying the athlete to transporting samples for analysis.

USADA Whereabouts Policy: Consistent with the WADA IST, all athletes in the USADA Registered Testing Pool must comply with the whereabouts requirements in this Policy

60-Minute Time Slot Clarification: USADA Registered Testing Pool (RTP) athletes who are included in the USADA International Testing Pool (ITP) will be required to provide a 60-minute time slot as part of their whereabouts requirements.

WADA International Standard for the Protection of Privacy and Personal Information (ISPPPI): The document ensures that all relevant parties involved in anti-doping in sport adhere to a set of minimum privacy protections when collecting and using athlete personal information, such as information relating to whereabouts, doping controls and Therapeutic Use Exemptions. WADA International Standard for Laboratories (ISL): The document ensures production of valid test results and evidentiary data and to achieve uniform and harmonized results and reporting from all accredited laboratories.




Prohibited Substances and Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Information



World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List: The Comprehensive document serving as the international standard for identifying substances and methods prohibited in sport.

Athlete Guide to the WADA Prohibited List: A clarified guide, explaining some of the most common aspects of the WADA Prohibited List.
WADA International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE): The document ensures that the process of granting TUEs is harmonized across sports and countries.
USADA Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Policy: Consistent with the WADA International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions, the policy explains the process for TUEs.

100 % Me Program: As a newly launched resource, USADA's 100% Me program (for ages 10-14) is a vital tool in reaching the next generation with the values of clean sport. Fully interactive, with a complementing curriculum and website available for free to coaches, schools, athletic directors, teachers, and youth program facilitators, this program explores relevant themes such as facts about performance-enhancing drugs, dietary supplements and energy (stimulant) drinks, and the importance of safe training, sleep/recovery, nutrition, and healthy body image. That's Dope Program: As a newly launched resource, the That's Dope (for ages 14-20) program is a vital tool in reaching the next generation with the values of clean sport.
